Jacki, our great administrative assistant, is going to be taking maternity leave soon so we are hiring someone to assume her position during her leave. Revival Arts Studio is growing and continually evolving portrait, wedding and commercial photography studio in Abbotsford, BC. It is an exciting time at our studio and we are looking for someone to share in the joy we get from creating images and working with amazing clients.
This position is based in a home office atmosphere, complete with the chaos of a young family and the perks that come with it. This approximately 20 hour per week job offers flexible hours and the office atmosphere is laidback yet focused and busy. You must be a hard worker who is able to work without constant supervision.
For the right person, extensive training will be provided and the job description will be tailored to suit their skills. However, this position does not involve assisting or shooting at portrait sessions. If you aspire to be a photographer, this job is not for you.
Please view the pdf to see more details.
Interested? Please send us an email introducing yourself with your resume attached. Not interested but know someone this would be perfect for? Then please pass it on. Resumes will be accepted until June 10th.

Congratulations to the Class of 2010!
Our studio is moving next week (YAY!) and we’re going to have an indoor location to do 2010 grad photography that is going to allow us to easily create edgy, modern and urban grad portraits. We need to create some 2010 grad studio samples and are accepting nominations for a free 2010 grad session and 14″ framed print.
If you are a 2010 grad or know a 2010 grad who would love to be photographed by us, please send us an email and let us know about your grad and why he or she would love to have a complimentary Revival Arts grad session. If you attach a photograph of him or her as well (in grad outfit or regular clothing), that will increase your chances of being chosen.
Please email Darcie your nominations by 8:00pm on Sunday, May 9th, 2010. The grad must be available to do the photography at our studio in Abbotsford on May 14th or 15th. You are allowed to nominate yourself, your friends, your cousins, your neighbors, your grandkids …. anyone you know who is graduating this year and would love the opportunity to model for us.
Here are some samples of a few of our previous grads. I love how each portrait session captured the style and interests of the individual grads ….

We have another workshop coming up at The Reach Gallery Museum in Abbotsford it’s one that we’ve been waiting to teach for a long time. It’s called “How to Take Better Photographs” and is for the novice photographer with any type of camera (point and shoot or SLR).
Shutter bugs who want to learn some basic skills to improve their photography will be shown how composition and light can be used to create eye catching photographs. This workshop is designed to strengthen the creative and artistic side of your photography. We’re extra excited about this workshop as we will show lots of examples from our portfolio as inspiration.
If you’ve taken our SLR Overview class and we mentioned another class that you should take, this is the one! If you haven’t taken any of our classes before this is a great way to learn some tips and techniques that will improve your photography.
The class is on Thursday, April 15th from 6-8:30pm and the cost is $70. You can register by calling The Reach at 604-864-8087 x0. If you have questions about the content of the class, you can contact us at 604-864-6339 or email. Please register early as our classes fill up and we don’t want you to miss this one. We do not have plans to offer this class again in the near future.

We will be offering our popular SLR Overview class at The Reach Gallery Museum in Abbotsford on Thursday, January 28th at 6:30 – 9:00. This class is for people who own an SLR camera or other kind of camera that can do manual settings. We will cover basics such as modes your camera has and topics such as focus, aperture, shutter speed, iso, shooting modes and metering.
In the class after talking about each topic, we go around and help each person find the setting on their own camera. It’s a lot more engaging and less confusing than reading a manual.
This is the only class we have scheduled so far in 2010 and our winter/spring shooting schedule is booking quickly so we may not have time to add more. If you’re someone who wants to take a class with us this year, now is the time to sign up! You can register by calling The Reach 604-864-8087. Please bring your camera and manual to class.
The pics on this blog post were taken by Jason two days ago with our old (in digital years) point and shoot camera when he was out and about. You can see more of his “December Wanderlust” pics and other random things that he photographs when no one’s watching on Flickr.

We are very excited to launch the biggest project so far in our photography career! We are creating a coffee table art book titled Imagine featuring portraits of local kids. We have been planning the project for several months + the website just went live a few days ago so we can *finally* tell you about it.
The $75 per family session fee will be donated entirely to Matthew’s House, a respite home in Abbotsford for children with severe disabilities.
If you have kids + want to have us photograph them, now is the perfect time! There are a limited number of sessions available so please go to our www.imaginekids.ca website to learn more + to sign up now.
This is a large project + we need your help in getting the word out to all of the families who would like to participate! We know there are several hundred of you out there who read our blog + Facebook posts everyday. If you can post a link to the imaginekids.ca website or pass on a message to your friends it will help us out a ton. If you know a place where we can put postcards or a poster, or if you know someone we should contact who can help us get the word out to more mommies, please send us a message.
We are pumped to create a book that will be a part of people’s history + to give back to our community at the same time. Do you ever get the feeling that you’re on the cusp of something big? That’s how we feel now + we want you to be a part of it!
