Baby Daphne made her first appearance at our studio recently accompanied by big sister Bryna. Bryna enjoyed checking Daphne’s hair, giving her kisses and then was more interested in gold fish crackers and moving around. Priorities, I tell you!

It was fun to photograph this family again. Niki + Shawn are amazing with kids and know how to make things fun and engage Bryna. They have a large repertoire of songs and poems, many of which I recognize from when I taught Kindermusik. I think we’ll start bringing them to all of our sessions! Here are a few of our favorites …

We are very excited to launch the biggest project so far in our photography career! We are creating a coffee table art book titled Imagine featuring portraits of local kids. We have been planning the project for several months + the website just went live a few days ago so we can *finally* tell you about it.

The $75 per family session fee will be donated entirely to Matthew’s House, a respite home in Abbotsford for children with severe disabilities.

This is a large project + we need your help in getting the word out to all of the families who would like to participate! We know there are several hundred of you out there who read our blog + Facebook posts everyday. If you know a place where we can put postcards or a poster, or if you know someone we should contact who can help us get the word out to more mommies, please send us a message.

We are pumped to create a book that will be a part of people’s history + to give back to our community at the same time. Do you ever get the feeling that you’re on the cusp of something big? That’s how we feel now + we want you to be a part of it!

Big sister, Hope, brought her new brother, Maverick, into our studio for his first portrait session. Something must run in the family because they both enjoyed having their picture taken + were adorable to photograph! Hope does have previous experience. Remember the butterfly session we did? They brought their jersey’s of Daddy’s favorite team. (Uh oh. I can’t remember what it was.)

It’s a special time when a family welcomes a new member and it’s always an honor for us to be a part of creating a record of that time. We were invited to photograph Journey when she was 4 days old. After a quick snack with Mommy and some secret Super Daddy maneuvers, she was ready to settle down and be photographed. Here are a few of our favorites …

We love photographing newborns as early as possible to capture the tranquil newborn stage. When babies are less than a week, we find they are sleepier and their skin hasn’t begun to peel.

The next two people who contact us to photograph their newborn who is 5 days or younger will receive their session free. We have some great ideas and now need a sleepy, little baby to make them happen. Please let your friends who are having babies in the next few weeks know. Fine print: the session is free and we will put together an in studio presentation for you to view of the portraits. Prints, albums and other product is available to be purchased at our regular prices. You need to be willing to sign a release to allow us to use the photographs.

I say it with pretty much every time we photograph babies and I really mean it - Caelan + Rhian were adorable!

Newborn sessions are some of the most challenging sessions we do due to all the feeding, pooping, peeing and fussing that often goes on during them, so we were bracing ourselves for two babies and it was a breeze. They were relaxed. Mommy + Daddy were relaxed. It was wonderful.

We’ve been patiently waiting to do Cruz’s newborn pictures after doing his mom’s maternity pictures awhile back. He was over 9 lbs. when he was born and three weeks later, it looks like he has healthy appetite. Check out the rolls on this little guy …
