There are certain transitions in life that I feel are meant to be captured with photography. I’m so glad that it’s become acceptable and even expected for pregnant women to have a portrait session of this amazing transition in their lives.
Yoga has been something that Kelly has done a lot during her pregnancy so we chatted with her about ways that we could include that in her maternity session. After looking through some inspiration, we decided to do it early in the morning near her parents’ farm. What Jason captured is nothing short of spectacular. It made me want to go take yoga classes just so I could have a session like this!
Here are a few favorites from her maternity portrait session at 33 weeks ….

We enjoy blogging and showing off the beautiful people that we photograph. With the growth of our studio and the time involved in creating posts, we’ve had to take a step back and rethink how we do things. So we’ve come up with the idea of posting a collection of approximately five recent images at least once a week on our blog.
When we first started our blog, we had a lot of posts about random things that interested us and what we were up to. We’re hoping that without the pressure of doing an entire blog post about each session, we will have more time again to infuse our blog posts with personality, behind the scenes glimpses and interesting snapshots.
Here are some samples from recent sessions…
We have always enjoyed working with Michelle on projects at Domain7 where she is an awesome designer. Most people find it difficult to verbally describe something they want to visually create. Michelle always finds a way. So it was fun working with her to come up with a look and feel for her maternity session. Everything came together beautifully and here are a few of our favorites ….
Cheryl came in for her maternity session which was one of our first in our new studio. We’ve photographed her and her husband before and she was open to whatever we wanted to try. We did a combination of natural light and studio light and were very happy with the results. Here are a few favorites …
Spoiler alert: She’s already had her baby. Little Matias is already a month old. He’s adorable and has already had his first portrait session. I am back on a roll and I am determined to get caught up on our blogging. As of today I am 47 posts behind. There is a plethora of great photographs to share with all you loyal blog and Facebook followers!
An important part of living in Abbotsford is knowing where to go for stylish products. If you’re expecting or are a new mom, the place for you to go is nine boutique! It is owned and operated by Summer who is a local gal who noticed that Abbotsford was a booming city but had no shop to supply moms when they were expecting.
We recently brought some art over for her to display in the store. We always enjoy going there because she has it well stocked with a wide variety of clothing and products. From maternity undies and stylish clothing to blankets and bottles she has great products. She runs specials every Friday for her Facebook fans and Twitter followers so be sure to sign up for those.
The boutique is on Montrose across from Bishops Centre and next to Pluteo. Here are a few photographs of nine boutique:
If you’re coming to us for a maternity photography session with us be sure to stop in at nine boutique as Summer will set you up with great clothing!
Marie is expecting her third boy and came by our studio to capture this special stage of life. She wanted something subtly sensual so we came up with a few ideas for her session. We enjoy the challenge of coming up with flattering lighting and creative poses with maternity. There’s a lot of beautiful but cliche maternity photography out there so we like to push ourselves to be artistic, unique and classy. Here are a few favorites …
We met Angie and her family at a birthday party several years ago. When they came in for their session last week they told us that they’ve been following our blog since then and saying to themselves that they should come in for a session. We are so glad it finally happened. Angie had some ideas that we used as a starting point for her session and then tried a few new things. This was a three in one session because we also got to photograph her daughter and husband. Bonus! Here are a few favorites …
Niki, Shawn + Brenna met us on a trail in Chilliwack by the Veddar River for some fun, relaxed maternity photography. Niki is 36 weeks pregnant + looks amazing! We photographed her when she was expecting Brenna + also for some newborn portraits.
It’s amazing to see how much has changed in just under a year and a half. Brenna is now on the go and is interested in + exploring everything around her. We’re looking forward to photographing her with her little brother or sister in a few weeks.

There’s something special about the time right before a baby arrives. The anticipation of meeting your child. The beautiful + sometimes tiring changes in your body. The dreams + worries that go along with being a parent. We love photographing families at this stage. Stacey came by the studio for some maternity portraits + here are a few of our favorites …

Kim is one hot mama! Woo wee! She originally came to us for photos of her first child 2 years ago (has it really been that long already?) and we’ve enjoyed being in contact with her over the years. She is expecting baby #2 later this month + stopped by our studio for some maternity pictures to document her body at this beautiful stage. Here are a few of our favorites …
