Leah and Steve were one of our earlier wedding couples. Their engagement session stands out because it was right after an ice storm and they looked amazing! I also remember being speechless the moment I saw her walk in for her wedding. She was beautiful. They’ve always had a great connection which is wonderful to see them carry on even in the day to day glamour of raising a young family.
Since we last photographed them, they have been blessed with four children and a puppy. They are a great family and we enjoyed spending time with them at their session. Here are a few of our favorites ….

It’s family day on our blog! This is Dan and Nikki with their puppy Pixel and Nikki’s family at their session. I think it’s been a while since their last session so Jason met them and had a relaxed session with them. They now have some gorgeous new wall displays to enjoy in their homes. There’s something about walking by great photographs of people you love that never gets old.
Dan + Nikki own, Triple I Web Solutions, where they create good looking, well programmed websites for a variety of clients. So we did some headshots for them to use on their website as well. We use their services for a bunch of our websites and everyone we’ve referred to them has raved about their personalized service and expertise. Dan was recently nominated for Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce.
Here are a few of our favorites from their session ….

I feel like a bit of a stuck record but we really enjoy watching our clients grow up. We met the Bacon family when I taught Kindermusik and between preschool, speech and photography our lives continue to overlap. It is great to see how much their son has grown up but how Thomas the Tank Engine is still at the top of his list. And the girls have changed and grown up so much since their last session. Here are a few of our favorites ….

Every mother can attest that one of the best and worst things with children is that they grow up. I’ve found that leaving one stage and starting another is bitter sweet. One of the great parts of our job is we get to capture a stage and preserve it in a way that a family can look back on it and remember it with warm fuzzies.
The Weber family is sending their oldest son off to college. So we did a family portrait session of them in a forest area that has special meaning to them. Celebrating and acknowledging transitions is an important way to keep families close even when there’s distance between them.
There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings. ~Hodding Carter, Jr.
Here are some portraits of the Weber family who have strong roots which allow them to stretch their wings …

One of the great things about families is that they are always changing and growing. We were excited about the Dick family because we have been photographing the oldest three kids for several years and this was the baby’s first session with us.
We went down to a special spot at the Vedder River where the kids love to hang out and play. It is behind the family farm so I think their dad had even hung out and played there when he was a kid. It was one of the hottest weekends of the year! Here are a few favorites …
Fall is a great time of year to schedule a family portrait that will create a lasting memory and add to your family heritage! For more information on Revival Arts portraits, please visit www.rastudio.ca.
Every year or two, we do Micaela, Joden and Cade’s portraits. The challenge for us is we have to do something unique and different for each session. Micaela gives us carte blanche for her locations and lighting. We usually offer a couple options and then go with what stands out to her and the boys. This year it was …. drum roll please …. the junkyard!
I think it’s important that kids feel a part of their session. Honestly, for a school aged boy, getting dressed up and having pictures taken can be an inconvenience. Jason is excellent at interacting and engaging them in a way that makes them feel like a partner in the process.
Joden and Cade wore their special South African rugby shirts that their grandpa had sent to them from Africa and rocked being in the bus surrounded by radiators and standing on a car. They are going to have some pretty awesome art in their home! Here are a few favorites …
Here is last year’s nature session with old growth trees.

Marriages that last decades are something worth celebrating! It was my aunt and uncle’s 50th anniversary this summer and they decided one of the ways to mark the occasion was with a family portrait. Their family has grown a lot in over the 50 years.
My dad is the baby of his family and was only 8 years old when they got married. His main memories of the day are that it was hot, that there was a forest fire on their family’s acreage and that he was excited to sneak sugar cubes at the reception.
We had their portrait session on their actual wedding date. It was a beautiful day and not as hot as their actual wedding day which I’ve been told still holds the hottest temperature record. Their son brought his restored ’61 Corvette to the session. Here are a few of our favorites …
Congratulations to Tony and Dawnelle (their daughter) who celebrated their 30th anniversary this summer! I was the flower girl in their wedding and Lexi is about my age this summer and has been trying the dress on as often as I’ll let her. Here are a few photographs of them as well …

We have been photographing the kids in the Sawatzky family since the oldest was two years old. They had the foresight to join our Lifetime Portrait Club before most people knew Revival Arts even existed. Every year they get free birthday sessions for their kids so it’s been wonderful watching them grow up.
This is the first year we got to photograph the entire family. They had a few ideas and Jason added his own flair so it ended up being a fun, relaxed session with some portraits that they will enjoy having on their walls for many years ….

After seeing their rooftop family portrait, I am convinced that there’s a family of Supers in our neighborhood. I think I’ve even discovered their super powers. Blake has super vision. Nerida can walk in super heels. Gabby is just all around super. And Harlan makes super crazy faces … actually they may all have that power. I’m don’t know how they’re going to save the world but they sure will look good doing it!
Here are some photographs for their family portrait session …
