2013 crystal gala photographers : crystals in bloom

We were pleased to be a part of the 2013 Crystal Gala. We were the official photographers who captured the event and took photographs of the attendees in their beautiful outfits. It was an amazing evening and $160,000 was raised towards the Crystal Gala Health Unit at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. Since 1999, over $1.8 million has been raised by the Crystal Gala Committee.

You can see all the photographs of the Crystal Gala on their Flickr stream.

jason’s a nominee for the arty awards : abbotsford arts scene

Jason is pleased and honoured to have his artistic skills recognized by the Abbotsford Arts Council in the form of a nomination for the 2013 Arty Awards. He is nominated in the category of 2D Visual Artist and we are looking forward to the awards ceremony tonight.

We hear that there’s some pretty great food, silent auction items, and entertainment for us to enjoy. But really, we’re just excited to get out together without the kids! And they’re excited to stay home without us and eat macaroni and cheese which is a celebrated tradition on babysitter nights.

abbotsford photography classes : our recommendations

We will not be offering photography classes through our studio until January 2013. If you are itching to learn some of the basics of your camera, we have two suggestions for you:

1. Ted from Omnilargess.
2. Tamara from Continuing Studies at UFV.

We will be back teaching in January. Between our fall portraits and having three kids, we just don’t have the time (or energy) to do it now. You can sign up through our website to be notified of our next Abbotsford photography classes.

show your smile fundraiser : langley child development centre

We are proud to be sponsoring the Show Your Smile Fundraiser for the Langley Child Development Centre. It’s still a ways off but mark November 21st on your calendar as the perfect evening to support an amazing organization by shopping for the kids on your list.

I have shopped for our kids there every year and have found some unique gifts that we still enjoy using. They even offer childcare by child development consultants. Plus we’ll be there to photograph your cuties just in time to give photos to the grandparents.

matthew’s house golf classic : event photographer abbotsford

One of our values at Revival Arts is giving back to our community. One of the organizations that is near and dear to our hearts is Matthew’s House. Matthew’s House is a respite home for children with life-limiting disabilities that is being built on the Campus of Care beside the Abbotsford Regional Hospital.

Matthew is my cousin’s child who was born with severe cerebral palsy. His parents always were very involved in his care but also realized that they sometimes needed to step back and let others help. They have a vision to create a place where other families can find support for their children in an environment that reminds them of home. There is a moving video about the process Matthew’s parents have gone through on the Matthew’s House website.

Matthew’s House recently held their first annual golf classic fundraiser at Ledgeview Golf Course in Abbotsford that raised $85,000. Jason was lurking in the bushes and stalking golfers to capture some great photographs of the event. Here are a few favorites …
