passion coaching : valentine’s gift idea no. 2

Eryn-Faye Frans, Passion Coach, Marriage Uncensored, Valentines Day,

We met Eryn-Faye Frans earlier this year and were intrigued when she introduced herself as a passion coach. We were even more intrigued when we found out that she is a lawyer, a pastor’s daughter and her husband works for a fairly conservative non-profit organization. We’ve stayed in touch since and thought we’d ask her a few questions as part of a series of creative Valentine’s gift ideas.

1. What is a passion coach?
I speak to women about passion, sensuality and sexuality. I believe that in order to have a healthy, long-lasting relationship, couples need to have great communication, commitment and consummation. Since the latter is the most difficult to talk about, I help couples navigate this often complex subject so that they can have a deeply satisfying sexual relationship.

2. What are some reasons that you’ve chosen this career?
It took 53 hours to bring my daughter into the world, during which there was extensive trauma to my pelvic floor and a botched stitch job. My husband and I went from having a thriving sex life to a virtually non-existent one for months as my body healed. During this time, I realized that there wasn’t anyone that I could talk to about the ramifications that this was having on my marriage. About a year later, I began my coaching business to address the questions that women really want to ask about their sexuality but don’t know where to turn.

3. What advice do you have for women at different life stages?

Every stage of life brings its own complexities which impact the bedroom. Here are a few examples:

Singles – In a perfect world, I would love to talk to people in this stage most. If I could spend a little time helping educate people BEFORE they get into deeper relationship issues they would be able to skirt so many difficulties and emotional stress. An ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure.

Newly married – This can be a difficult time for young couples if not everything is working the way they think it is supposed to work. This is the stage when I most often speak with couples about issues pertaining to penetration (it’s not always as easy as you might think!), inability to orgasm, lubrication issues, and body image issues.

Young moms – Having great sex while you have young kids in the house takes a lot of planning and extra energy that you might not have! During this stage, I give women tips and suggestions that help them flip the switch from being “loving mommy to sexy wife”.

Mother of teenagers – While this stage in life can offer a bit more freedom because the kids are more independent, it is also the stage when women are refocusing on their careers (or starting one for the first time), or might even have elderly parents who are needing more attention. It is quite a juggling act to keep everything (including sex) running smoothly!

Menopause – This stage can often sneak up and really surprise women! Some ladies say it feels like an “alien has landed in my body” or “I lost my orgasm”. When meeting with women in this stage of life, I help them understand what is happening to their bodies and give recommendations on how they can continue to have a very satisfying sexual life despite the changes.

4. What would we expect a passion coaching session to be like?
In a coaching session, I cover whatever topic a woman (or couple) might be facing which make them feel unfulfilled. We talk about orgasms, low libido, exhaustion, lubrication, sexual dysfunction, children’s bed times (you would be amazed how much that impacts sexuality!!), the complexities of menopause, foreplay, spicing up the relationship, and so much more! Coaching is not an intimidating or scary process. It’s about helping you have the most fulfilling relationship you can – learning how to build into your commitment, communication and consummation so that each of them are everything you want them to be.
