Last weekend we took some time off and headed out to Vancouver to take in the Children’s Festival in Vanier park. The weather was beautiful, the entertainment was enjoyable and we had some great company as Sabrina and Karen joined us.
Luckily for us, Karen is a great photographer and like all great photographers can’t keep her hands off of cameras when there are photo opportunities around. If we weren’t so used to it, the rest of us would have felt self conscious with two photogs fluttering around us, ooohhing and aahhing about the light and happily snapping away.
Storytime about a little boat that pulled hard. Xander got to be the little boat.

This pirate was hilarious and slightly intimidating due to his height.

Jason and I – thanks Karen!

Karen and her daughter, Selah.

The cutest little pony tail.

A symbolic shot. I’m not sure what to read into it though.

Lexi admiring the tepee.

A perfect setting for entertainment.

Xander running around with his paper bag kite. The kites worked great and the area right outside of the kite making tent was a danger zone as the kids wanted to immediately try them out.

See you next year!

Lindsay and Eddie had an amazing day for their e-session in Minter Gardens. It was so hot it could have easily passed as a good day in July! The sun and bright colors worked together perfectly for some fabulous settings. Here are just a few of our faves:

We’re looking forward to your wedding at The Falls in August!

Tony and Costa Galini had us out to their fabulous Greek restaurant in Langley to do some lifestyle photography. Their restaurant, Galini Greek Kouzina and Grill, features a contemporary atmosphere, exceptional cuisine and refreshing drinks. Tony and Costa’s family has been in the restaurant business for over three decades and you can tell they know what they’re doing. Here are a few of our favorites …

David and Alison invited us out to Vancouver to take some pictures of them at their beautiful home, Cherry Blossom Bed and Breakfast. They were ready for a new headshot for their website and also some pictures to celebrate their upcoming 30th anniversary. (Congratulations!)
We also got to photograph their daughter, Christy, who is a personal trainer and was in need of some portraits for her upcoming website. Here are a few of our favorites …

The weather is looking picture perfect on Saturday, May 24th and we have zero sessions booked. We love what we do and have a wish list of sessions that we’ve been waiting to photograph. If you can help us fulfill one of our dream sessions, we’ll give it to you for free.
1. Retro Roller Skates – for a fun individual or couple who has a flair for freestyling fun and some retro rollerskates. Think Flight of the Conchords cool.
2. Little Ladies – for two or more girls who like to dress up, have tea parties and pose with parasols.
UPDATE – HAVE MODELS
3. High Flying Family – for a family of four or more who have a colourful kite they can have fun flying together. Or at least running back and forth with if there’s no wind.
UPDATE – HAVE MODELS
4. Skateboarders – for one or more skateboarders who can show off their moves.
5. Cupcake Picnic – for a family with a sweet tooth who will delicately munch on cupcakes while we take pictures. Yum yum. (It’s tough being a model.)
If any of these appeal to you please send Darcie an email to db@rastudio.ca with your contact information, how you heard about us and a brief introduction to the people who would be involved.
And just so we are completely clear, the session is free ($250 value) and we will put together a slide show presentation to view in our studio but any prints, albums or other product is purchased at our regular prices. You would also need to be willing to sign a release to give us unrestricted use of the photographs.

I know from our stats that the first day after a weekend is when many of you are putting off whatever you’re supposed to be doing and catching up on what we’ve been photographing. Am I right? We don’t have any full posts yet but will later today. Stay tuned for some free sessions we’ll be offering for Saturday.

We have been having a blast doing tons of photography this spring. We have been working on some larger commercial shoots in addition to our usual portrait and wedding photography. But if you’re a regular on our blog you already know that!
What you don’t know is that we’ve been working on expanding things at Revival Arts Studio. We are looking into leasing some studio and meeting space so that we can have a clearer separation between our personal and business lives. (If you know of someone who has approximately 1000 square feet with 10+ foot ceilings available, please let us know.)
After that’s all in place, we will be hiring an admin assistant to help keep us organized. We will post the job description on the blog so if you’re looking for an interesting and rewarding career be sure to check back in a month or two.
We are also excited to announce that we are launching a new website on Saturday, May 31st! Stay tuned for more teasers and a new website contest where you can win a photography session and canvas print.
Here are some recent pics of our kids …
