Josh and Sheryl came by our studio for some family portraits with their adorable 2 year old daughters, Angelina and Jada (yes, they are identical). We didn’t have to work hard to get the girls to smile as they came prepared with their “loves” and had a blast. Here are a few of our favorites …

Georgia + Achao invited Darcie to photograph the birth of their first baby. They were surrounded by midwives and family who supported Georgia while she labored at home. Baby Emmaus made his grand entrance after a long labor and was definitely worth all of the effort!
The slide show is PG-rated. There is no blood or nudity but if you have little kids on your lap, they will probably ask you some questions about what’s going on.
Jason did a newborn portrait session of Emmaus today and will be posting the pictures early next week. If you are interested in having a birth photographed please read this previous blog post.
Jason:
After photographing some nature after sunset, I found that the resulting images were quite cold and lifeless. I still liked several of them, one of which was simply a branch breaking the surface of the water.
Darcie:
I spent my fun shooting time this week working on an inspiring project that I will hopefully be posting on the weekend. So I am going to “pass” for the moment as I don’t have a pic of the week that I love.

Congratulations to Sarah the winner of our abstract smoke curls contest. She will receive a copy of her favorite piece, a study in simplicity, pictured above.
Sabrina Laimon and I (Darcie) have been friends since grade 11 when we both played piano for the choirs at our high school. She is a musical marvel (among many other things like yoga, acting, dancing, friendship, shopping, etc.) and is set to record her first CD. Sabrina is an accomplished classical and jazz pianist and is writing some pop jazz songs for her album. She’s also a great photographic subject …
There is going to be a new addition to Leanne, Nathan + Jordan’s family in approximately five weeks. They stopped by our studio for a relaxed and fun portrait session capturing Leanne’s blooming tummy. Jordan, being a complete ham, showed off and had fun goofing around with mommy and daddy. And Leanne is one hot mama! Here are a few of our favorites …
It’s Wednesday again so we’re posting our favorite pics of the week. We’re feeling pretty symmetrical this week …
Jason - This lily caught my eye on the set of Marriage Uncensored. It looked good on its own, so going along with the smoke theme I mirrored it to see how wild it would look. This reminds me of my slide film days when I would make two identical slides of the same subject and sandwich them together…
Darcie - These are the train tracks that cross Gladwin Road by the Abbotsford Skydiving Centre. I believe this was the “electric line” that used to pick up milk from all the farmers. (Feel free to comment if you know more about these train tracks.)

We are enjoying being the official photographers for Marriage Uncensored with Dave and Christie. This episode, special guest Dr. David Hawkins, joined Dave Currie and Christie Rayburn to talk about Conflict: When You Can’t See Eye to Eye. This episode will air in our area on Sunday. You can find more information on the website as well as promotional photography we’ve done on set and in studio. Here are some behind the scene shots from our last taping…
The finger in the marker joke never gets old, it just keeps getting better.
Dave and Christie keeping their energy up between takes.
Birds eye view. Can you find the monkey? (The monkey’s job is to remind Dave and Christie not to look down when they’re talking.)

Jason Brown was inspired and took some pictures of smoke curling up after a candle was blown out and then mirrored them. The results are pretty hot. Leave us a comment to let us know what your favorite is. We’ll do a draw from the names and the winner will receive a signed copy of their favorite.

Congratulations to Annelie the winner of a newborn baby session! She correctly answered our skill testing question by finishing the line of U2’s song “Miracle Drug.”
Freedom has a scent, Like the top of a newborn baby’s head.
We are running a promotion during March and April where newborn portrait sessions can be purchased for $75. The gift certificate comes in a soft teddy bear and is the perfect gift for new mommies and daddies.
We love photographing newborns and suggest that parents schedule the session within the first two weeks of life. The newborn look is such a short stage and this is a great way to remember the beauty of it.
