We love to hear the phrase, “We want something different!” from our clients. Clare and Morgan are getting married soon and wanted something different for their engagement session. We were excited when Clare suggested a night session.
However, we hadn’t thought about how c-c-cold it is in January after dark. It looked like they hardly noticed. They laughed and chatted like it was the middle of summer. I was especially impressed with Clare as she was in just a sweater most of the time. We are looking forward to photographing their April wedding!
I have a list of 10 special things that I would like to photograph in 2008. One of those things is a birth.
Each of our children’s births were amazing events. If I could pin point a favorite moment in my life, it would be the moment that Xander and Lexi were placed in my arms for the first time. Looking back at their first photos with me I’m amazed to see how at 15 seconds old they were already themselves.
Xander made a wide variety of funny faces. He still makes this expression if you wake him up from a deep sleep…
Lexi yelled. She has always had healthy lungs and still doesn’t hesitate to use them…

Our mini sessions are $100, for 1 - 3 children of any age (newborn, baby, toddler, preschooler, school age) in our studio and last about 20 minutes. Each session includes an 8×10 portrait and an online gallery of approximately 15 images with online ordering for one week. All specialty studio items are also available for purchase including prints, art canvases, albums, holiday cards, frames and photo jewelry.
Xander (5 years) and Lexi (1.5 years) have lots of experience modeling as they are our children. Unfortunately, this doesn’t make it easier for us to photograph them. Our sessions with them make us realize why people hire professionals to have their portraits done!
Our job is never boring. If we’re not photographing couples who are in love or kids who are full of life, we get to photograph trendy products. myMonkeymoo creates stylish and comfortable stroller pads and blankets. We just photographed their new Everyday Style Collection that is shipping February 28, 2008.

There’s something about the ocean and a long pier that is romantic. Chrissy and Adam count White Rock as one of their special spots so Jason went there for their engagement portrait session. The sunny, winter light and some experimentation with the flash created some killer portraits.
I have to tip my hat to Chrissy. You are one tough BC girl. You not only braved freezing January weather in a stylish, little sweater but you look completely hot while doing it! It must be all your and Adam’s love keeping you warm. We’re looking forward to your wedding this year.
We photographed Jeff + Chantelle’s wedding a couple years ago and are now excited to photograph their one year old son. He’s a little charmer with mile long eyelashes. Why do boys always have the longest lashes?
We often run into McTavish the 3rd going for a walk at Fish Trap Creek. His owner always has time to stop for a little chat and tells the families we’re photographing how adorable their children are. McTavish the 3rd will usually give a few kisses and hold still long enough to allow the kids to feel his soft fur.
Christmas is a great time to have portraits done if you have family coming in from out of town. Some of this family came in from Arizona for a true BC Christmas experience complete with family photos in the c-c-cold snow.

We have decided that it is time for us to move to a home that allows us to separate our business and personal lives more. So our spacious and quiet townhouse is for sale. If you know someone who is looking for a clean, bright townhouse on the west side of Abbotsford with 4 bedrooms and over 2800 square feet, please let them know about our place. Living and dining room which we use as a client meeting area and also for shooting. It has tons of natural light and faces our private backyard. Note the real hardwood.
The kitchen and eating area. It’s has lots of room to cook and is surrounded by windows.
The master bedroom also has tons of windows and is huge. It is ultra quiet as there are no roads near it and it backs onto a retirement complex. The neighbors behind the hedge have a salmon bbq once a year and the rest of the year we hardly notice them.

Our huge office in the basement. We are so spoiled. The close desk is Darcie’s and the far is Jason’s. This room had a pool table in it before we moved in.
