We went out to West Vancouver this week to photograph the Castley family. Darcie knows Carolyn as she is a Kindermusik Educator Extraordinaire on the Northshore. Carolyn is expecting the arrival of a baby in the next two weeks. She’s hoping sooner rather than later. Here are a few of the photos we took…

3 year old Jacob has stunning eyes.

Jacob has the cutest little curls. He loves the ocean and looks like a little surfer dude.

The handshot.

Jacob and Carolyn.

Warren and Jacob having some tickle fun.

The whole family.

Jacob showing a crab to his little brother or sister.

Jacob has a thing for putting stickers on his tummy. Today stars were the stickers of choice.

Like most 3 year olds, Jacob also enjoys little things. Here his fish is getting the special sticker treatment as well.

And here’s another member of the family. Chomsky is a HUGE English Mastiff. She is very friendly, gentle and knew how to work the camera.
Thanks for having us out and welcome to the Lifetime Portrait Club. We look forward to meeting and photographing your newborn!

Hopefully our photo sessions don’t feel like one long awkward pose. Here’s a website with videos of people posing awkwardly for a photograph while someone is actually taking a video.
Long Awkward Pose
Warning: A few of the videoed people use colourful language you might not want your children to hear.

Yesterday we went to Joshua’s 5th birthday at the Adventure Zone in Abbotsford. The kids had a blast and here are the photos to proove it…

The birthday boy climbing at the Adventure Zone.

A sea of children in the ball pit.

Big brother Nathanial going through the play ground.

The kids were treated to some spinning on this ride. Josh was yelling “Go faster!” most of the time.

The kids worked up quite an appetite and were treated to hot dogs, pizza and juice.

Josh proudly sitting in front of all his presents.

The gift opening was quite enthusiastic and quick paced.

He got the coolest Darth Vader costume.

Josh’s mom, Sherry, had the sweetest shoes. Half runner, half heels.
We have been photographing Mark and Sherry and the kids since we got our first camera. I think they were even our first clients. Here are a few shots of Joshua when he was younger…

Joshua as a newborn being held by his older brother Nathanial. This is one of my first portrait sessions - and boy, would I do it differently now.

Joshua in the crook of a tree awhile later. Notice the drool just above his chin. This is a hand-printed black and white from my bathroom-converted-darkroom.

The King family had their annual portrait session last week in White Rock. They are an energetic, good looking family! It was neat to see how much the boys have grown and changed since last year. They are still as active and busy as ever though. Here are a few of our favorite portraits…

The whole family in their beautiful backyard.

Gabriel last year and this year at 4.5 years.

Pheonix last year and this year at 2.5 years.

The boys are completely comfortable in front of the camera which allows their personalities to show through.

Nicole and Alistair.

Last year and this year.
We will also be doing a Christmas Card for them that we will post later. Welcome to our Lifetime Portrait Club.

We just realized we never posted our daughter, Lexi’s, birth announcement. She was five days old when Jason took these photos. She’ll be 3 months in a few days and it’s amazing how much things have changed since those first photos were taken.
All of our birth announcements, engagement announcements, wedding invitations, thank you cards and holiday cards are custom designed by Jason. You can see more samples here. Please call Jason or Darcie at 604-864-6339 or email for more information.

Two little eyes to look around,
Two little ears to hear a sound,
One little nose to smell what’s sweet,
One little mouth that likes to eat.

Just finished designing and printing Angela and Derk’s 5×7 wedding invitations. The photographs on the card are from their engagement session in White Rock, BC. Too bad they’re getting married in Ontario though, as I’d love to photograph their wedding!
Here’s their card:

Kathy Hayden of Santa Barbara, California recently had Jason create a fun new site for her Kindermusik studio. Kathy became a Kindermusik educator in 1998 and since then has brought her award winning program to hundreds of children in Santa Barbara. Click the photo above to see her snazzy site.
If you’re interested in having Jason create a website for you, please email for more information. There is currently a 3 - 4 week wait for him to begin new projects so now is a good time to get in line.
