We met Angie and her family at a birthday party several years ago. When they came in for their session last week they told us that they’ve been following our blog since then and saying to themselves that they should come in for a session. We are so glad it finally happened. Angie had some ideas that we used as a starting point for her session and then tried a few new things. This was a three in one session because we also got to photograph her daughter and husband. Bonus! Here are a few favorites …
Phew! We just finished our annual website update. It gives us a great feeling of accomplishment to look back at our work and see so many favorite photographs in the same place. I’m feeling a little sappy after it all and want to tell you that we are incredibly privileged and blessed to do what we love. Behind every picture you see on the website there is a story. We are thankful to the hundreds of people who have shared a part of their life and story with us.
Be sure to check out several new galleries under the “features” section. We have added some quotes and a home decor section with sketches Jason drew overlayed with potential portrait displays for your home. Imagine coming home everyday to a beautiful art display of the people you love most.
The weather has been beautiful and after taking a break from shooting, we are ready to get back at it. I am starting to call people to set up Imagine Kids sessions and if you want to book a session for something else, please give us a call at 604-864-6339.
Kelsey of KV BIJOU has become a friend after we connected a year ago through Facebook. She designs jewellery and recently was invited to be part of the guest lounge at the Sundance Film Festival. There was a great article on her in The Vancouver Sun yesterday. Here is half of the necklaces she’ll be taking with her when she goes this weekend.
We designed and printed a banner for her booth. Here it is on our office floor. (Jason originally was laying the other direction but it looked a little creepy with the model next to him so that’s why he’s upside down.)
The KV Bijou website has a great variety of necklaces, earings and bracelets for sale. The jewellery that she’s designed for the stars of Sundance will also be available on her website in February. Here’s a sneak peek at one of the designs she made for Sundance.

After our family session in the bathtub, Jason keeps sneaking his cameras into the bathroom to do experiments. One night he photographed water. Another night, after discovering a leaking container of red food colouring, he mixed water, ketchup and red food colouring together to do some red water pictures. I wondered why his hands were all red one evening! Here’s the photo he put together from it.

The City of Abbotsford is sending a team of delegates to India to develop and strengthen relationships and business opportunities. They asked Jason Brown to photograph the four temples in Abbotsford (three Sikh and one Hindu) to show people in India. You can read more information on the trip here. MetroCan Construction has handed over the keys to the Olympic Village and it was time to celebrate with the team who made it happen. They had a fun evening at the River Rock Casino in Richmond where everyone was treated to a marvelous meal, awards presentations and great performances. Some of the highlights were dancers from Aerial Acro + Dance Academy, a cake in the shape of the Olympic Village, a presentation by Olympian Victoria Brenner and then Barney Bentall and The Legendary Hearts rocked the house. If you follow us on Twitter or Facebook, you’ll know that we’re always trying new things and experimenting with lighting. Jason found this video and was inspired. So we decided to test it out on our family and did some photos of ourselves in the bathtub. The kids thought it was great wearing their clothes in the tub. Here’s the result:
Stephanie grew up in Abbotsford and booked a couples portrait session for her and her new husband, Adam, when they came to visit over Christmas. She had some great ideas with a classic lighting but modern feel. Jason started with Annie Leibovitz’s portrait of Kate Winslet + Sam Mendes as a starting point.
